Primitive Respirators are a pieces of headgear that can protect the wearer from certain Gas Effects. By wearing a Primitive Respirator, the player can avoid being suffocated and slowed when breathing in gases. The player is still vulnerable to blindness.

Wearing a Primitive Respirator while breathing gas will damage the respirator until it breaks. How quickly it breaks depends on the breathed gas. When Primitive Respirators break, they will no longer protect the player.

To protect against more Gas Effects, Advanced Respirators are needed.

Primitive Respirators can be repaired on Anvils using coal.
